Sports and Cultural Competition
The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism has a vibrant cultural atmosphere.
Every year, there is a cultural competition, in which students participate in debate and music (Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, patriotic and folk) contests as well as indoor games such as chess, carom board and badminton.
The awards for these, as well as for academic excellence, are given out at an annual cultural programme which features song and dance, skits, films and fashion shows performed by the students of the department. This is also the event at which the new students of First Year are officially welcomed and the graduating Masters class is bid farewell.
The students also participate in the inter-departmental cricket and football competitions of the university.
Preparation is underway for the launching of a Quiz Club.
